Always Somethin' Farm is a 15-acre organic farm located in Rutherfordton, NC just east of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. We grow a variety of vegetables, flowers, herbs, and mushrooms. We believe in letting nature take its course therefore, we do not use any harmful chemicals or pesticides on our crops. We practice biodynamic techniques along with integrated pest management and use semi no till and permaculture methods. We strongly support a local agri-food system and offer a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). We host workshops and welcome interns, schools, volunteers, and community groups to a hands on experience of a working farm in progress. Who are we?
We are Richard and Deborah.
We never actually planned on having an organic farm when we first met. Richard is from up North-way up north and I, Deborah am from down South-way down South. We met in the middle eleven years ago and our destiny brought us to the now- as organic farmers. Our families do not farm and never have.
We started out by having quite a few tropical plants (about 100) and selling them all in a yard sale. From there we purchased a greenhouse with the intentions of growing houseplants and the next thing we knew we were buying a tractor!
The farming thing started in Greensboro, NC where be bought that tractor and leased land to farm on. God had different plans for us though because seven years later we found our farmhouse and we were blessed with our very own land to farm on.
We are still settling into our new digs, so please be patient with us. We are growing as fast as we can!

Log inoculating
If you are interested in starting your own mushroom log collection we will inoculate and deliver the logs for you. We inoculate logs from 4"-10" in diameter, 3' - 4' long. If you are looking to inoculate logs yourself but cannot find fresh, disease free, oak logs, we can supply uninoculated logs.
Uninolcutated Oak logs:
$5.00 each
Inoculated Oak logs:
$10.00 each, plus spawn fee of $30.00 per 25 logs
.
Delivery: depending on location, average fee is $1.00 per log delivered within 50 miles of our farm.
